Aluflex40 is a prefabricated waterproofing membrane made of APP-modified bitumen, designed for flat roofs exposed to solar radiation and severe climatic conditions. It is reinforced with a 100% polyester non-woven, which provides good mechanical strength and good dimensional stability. Its upper face, self-protected by an aluminium foil, offers lasting protection against ultraviolet radiation and climatic ageing, while its lower face, coated with a heat-fusible film, allows simple and fast torch-applied installation.
Its APP formulation gives it good thermal stability, and its aluminium finish, which reflects part of the solar radiation and limits surface heating, makes it particularly suited to hot and Mediterranean climates. Aluflex40 is used as a top layer exposed to UV radiation on non-accessible flat roofs and on technical roofs with occasional foot traffic for maintenance, in residential, industrial and commercial buildings, in new construction as well as in the refurbishment of existing waterproofing.
For optimal adhesion, installation is carried out on a clean, dry and stable substrate, with a suitable bituminous primer, followed by torch welding, taking care to achieve uniform melting of the heat-fusible film. Particular attention must be paid to critical details: upstands, flashings, expansion joints, rainwater outlets and penetrations.
